Volleyball falls at home to IUPUI

The SDSU volleyball team fell in three sets to the IUPUI Jaguars on Friday night.

SDSU entered Fridays match against IUPUI with a record of 6-21 and 0-10 in the Summit League. IUPUI came into the match with a record of 14-11 and 8-2 in the Summit League, making them second overall in the league.

The Jacks came out dropping the first set 25-17. It was close second set but the Jacks ran out of gas losing the second set 26-24. The Jacks had the lead in the third set but the Jaguars went on a late run and won the set 25-20, winning the match 3-0.

Its tough because were right there.said head coach Phil McDaniel Its not a matter of effort, its a matter of paying attention to the little things and finishing strong.

Finishing strong has been a common struggle for the Jacks in their losses this year.

We are right in those matches and then we make too many errors in a row, McDaniel said. Those last eight points we tighten up a little bit and when you tighten up you make more mistakes. … We have to excel and be good for last 8 to 10 points of each set.

Junior Wagner Larson had 6 kills and a career high 6 block assists. Sophomore Tiara Gibson and freshman Ashley Beaner both added 6 kills as well.

The Jacks have two road games before returning to Frost Arena on Nov. 14 and 15 to play Oral Roberts and Western Illinois to end the season.
