Time to build a “Jack”-o’-lantern

staff

The fall season is underway, and in the spirit of Halloween and Hobo Day, The Union will be hosting a “Jack”-o’-lantern competition; showcasing carved or painted designs with the SDSU Jacks, SDSU, or Hobo Day theme! During this event, participants will have the opportunity to show off their pumpkin-carving skills, and display their school pride.

Staying true to the “Jack” in “Jack”-o’-lantern, each pumpkin will need to creatively tie in an SDSU theme in its design. (SDSU Student Organizations, Departments or programs are all encouraged to submit entries representing their area.) We ask that those participating in this event purchase one pumpkin to carve. There will be two categories for winners. The first category will consist of SDSU student organizations and registered SDSU students. The second category will be for SDSU staff and departments. Completed carvings will need to be turned in on Oct. 15 and 16, before 6 p.m.. Each “Jack”-o’-lantern will be placed on display throughout The Union, giving SDSU students the opportunity to vote on their favorite design. Voting will take place on Oct. 17 and 18, with the winners being announced on Oct. 19. The winning group or individual of each category will be awarded a prize and have their winning design showcased as the winning jack-o’-lantern!

Please join us in this event to celebrate Halloween and SDSU! If you would like to participate in our “Jack”-o’-lantern competition, please complete a registration form and send it via campus mail or email it to [email protected] by Oct. 15.
