Excitement for “Great Gatsby” movie grows

As many of you may know, “The Great Gatsby” movie is going to be released into theaters on May 10th. I’m not sure if it’s possible that anyone was more excited about this than me.

As a junior in high school, I read this book for my English III class. This is definitely the best book I’ve ever read and has been my favorite book ever since. For anyone who doesn’t know or has never read the book, “The Great Gatsby” is told by a young man, Yale graduate and World War I veteran, Nick Carraway, who moves to New York and soon meets his lavish neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Carraway narrates the events that happened during the summer of 1922.

I don’t want to give too much away before anyone sees the movie or reads the book, but countless occurrences make this an unforgettable book, and it is completely understandable as to why it is looked on as one of the best novels ever written. Because “The Great Gatsby” was published in 1925, the historical context of the book is true and critical to the narrative. Just from reading this book, I learned so much about the era of the 1920s, and it completely fascinated me. Anyway, I really chose to write about this pin because right when I saw it, I knew I would want to get that shirt. I also pinned this picture twenty one weeks ago, before I knew that there was a movie coming out.

“The Great Gatsby” movie is looking to be one of the best films of 2013 and I could not be more excited. First of all, I completely love Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays Jay Gatsby in the upcoming film. He’s been nominated for eight Golden Globes, of which he has won one, and the Academy Awards. Based on the looks of the previews I’ve seen, DiCaprio is well on his way to more nominations and further justifying his insane talent. Baz Luhrmann is directing the upcoming movie, which also gives me really high hopes for the film’s success. He is well-known for his direction of the Academy Award nominated movie “Moulin Rouge!” I think with the amazing set design, lavish costume design, and wonderful direction, Luhrmann could not be a more perfect fit to direct “The Great Gatsby.” Overall, I just wanted to write about the book and the movie and highly recommend it to anyone who ever wondered about it.

I could not think of a better book for young college age people to read. “The Great Gatsby” book combines precise historical context, in depth themes, and the heartbreaking story of a man striving for the attention of a past love. I am a die-hard fan of the book, and I cannot wait for the movie to come out so that I might just fall in love all over again.
