Everyone has their favorite places to eat, drink, get their haircut, shop etc. Prime example? What would a Saturday night in Brookings be without a slice of window pizza? Without a stop at your favorite bar? Or a night out without a new outfit from a local consignment shop or a new haircut from your choice salon?

At some point, all of us students have to graduate and many of us will move away from Brookings. When we come back, what places will become a necessary visit?

Each year, The Collegian releases the Student’s Choice Survey for students to vote on their favorite businesses in Brookings. This year, we at The Collegian decided to focus our Student’s Choice issue on the local flavor of Brookings and what places students will remember for years after they leave.

Many of us associate a local business with a specific memory or time in our life, and when we leave, coming back to visit is the only way we get to reconnect with those places. Think about it, where else in the world are you going to get a deliciously greasy Nick’s hamburger?

SDSU has a little over 12,000 students on average, making up a good chunk of the consumers in Brookings. The businesses of Brookings do a pretty good job providing students with great experiences that all together make up what could arguably be called the best time of your life.
