South Dakota State sophomore Grant Smith of the Jackrabbits men’s golf team tied for 14th Monday at the 2015 Seahawk Intercollegiate tournament hosted by the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

SDSU placed 14th after shooting a 949 (316-307-326). Campbell University won the event, shooting an 880 (302-282) on the par-72, 6,916-yard Ocean and Marsh courses.

Smith (Des Moines, Iowa) shot a 224 (73-71-80) for the tournament while Lee McCoy of Georgia won the intercollegiate, shooting a 216 (70-72-74).

Freshman Naqiuddin Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) placed 61st, shooting a 236 (77-73-86). Sophomore Trevor Tobin(Brandon) was 70th, firing a 244 (82-82-80), classmate Guillermo Gonzalez (Merida, Yucatan, Mexico) tied for 72nd (84-81-82=247) and junior Dylan Baker (Eden Prairie, Minn.) finished 76th (85-82-84=251).

The Jackrabbits return to action April 6-7 at the Red Hawk Invitational in Chambers Bay, Wash.
