SA supports flags in Student Union

If the Office of the President agrees with the Students’ Association, the Student Union will see additional decorations to its walls.

SA unanimously voted to pass a resolution to hang the national flag of South Dakota tribal nations and every international student at South Dakota State University in the Student Union.

Resolution 15-20-R, A Call for South Dakota State University to Show Support of All International and American Indian Students, was written to represent international and American Indian students more on campus.

Although the resolution did not suggest where the money should come from, it did say that the Office of the President would determine where the funding would come from to purchase and install the flags.

Resolution 15-19-R, SDSU Students’ Association Opposition of HB 1008, was postponed indefinitely because senators no longer thought the resolution was relevant since House Bill 1008 was vetoed by Gov. Dennis Daugaard last week.

Brookings City Councilman and Assistant Dean of the College of Pharmacy Dan Hansen spoke to senators during the Open Forum portion of the meeting. He encouraged senators to keep up their enthusiasm during the last few weeks of the semester.

The next SA meeting will be Monday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the Lewis and Clark room in The Union.
