Head wrestling coach Damion Hahn notched his first Big 12 Conference win as South Dakota State downed Utah Valley 26-16.

In the first five matches, the Jackrabbits ran out to an 18-0 lead and would never look back from the early lead.

At the 157-lbs division, Colten Carlson pinned Landon Knutzen in 5:30 to spark the Jackrabbits.

It wasn’t until the sixth match of the night when the Jackrabbits would lose a match. The loss came at the 174-lbs division when No. 12 Kimball Bastian earned a 12-3 major decision over Samuel Grove.

Despite winning the first five matches, the Jackrabbits dropped the four of the last six matches but were able to fend off the streaking Wolverines.

Zach Carlson won one of those matches and continued to impress in his junior year and earned a 17-1 technical fall over Kyle Snelling. Zach Carlson is now 16-6 on the year and is 5-3 in duals, for the best record on the team.

At the 133-lbs division, Rylee Molitor defeated Isaiah Delgado with an 8-5 decision for his first collegiate dual win.

Up next, the Jackrabbits will travel to Ames to take on the Iowa State Cyclones at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1.
