Brookings, South Dakota – “The happiest 5K on the planet” will be hitting Brookings April 30th at the Hobo Day Plaza and you will want to be part of it!

UPC will be hosting a Color Run to raise awareness for suicide prevention while creating a space for people to heal, learn from others and have a little fun. Beaded necklaces will be available at registration as a way for attendees to “share their story” of mental health/suicide impact and relate to other participants.

Tickets are $7 for students and $25 for community members. The proceeds made from the tickets will be donated to the Lost&Found Association, offering resource awareness and support communities for South Dakota college students at risk for depression and suicide.

Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the VBR Lounge of the University Student Union and the run/walk will start at 9:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased during UPC’s tabling hours in the Union or on the day of the event at registration, cash or Hobo Dough is accepted.

“Suicide prevention and mental health awareness is really important, and it is something everyone should be talking about,” said Anna Schwader, UPC Social Awareness Coordinator.

The first 50 people to sign up will receive a coffee mug with the Color Run logo and each participant will receive a white color T-shirt and water bottle.

Prizes include an Apple Watch, backpack, Hydroflask and more!
