In an email sent to all South Dakota State University staff, the COVID-19 Response Team announced that all campus events will be canceled until Aug. 15.

The canceled events range from summer sports, academic camps, athletic camps, Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center events, weddings, large-scale meetings and university-sponsored events that happen off-campus.

In the email, the COVID-19 Response Team also announced changes to the Office of Admissions, University staffing plans and facility updates.

According to the email, university employees will be working remotely through May 15, and plans to change that will be announced: “at a later date.”

The Office of Admissions is now offering virtual tours and events such as New Student Orientation and Summer Bridge.

Certain South Dakota State University facilities will remain closed until further notice. Those are as follows:

  • Wellness Center
  • McCrory Gardens
  • South Dakota Art Museum
  • South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum
  • University Bookstore
  • Dairy Bar
  • Meat Lab
  • Fishback Early Learning Center Preschool

Those weren’t the only announced changes for South Dakota State University today.

In a press release today, April 6, the South Dakota Board of Regents announced that all South Dakota public universities will be remaining online for the summer academic term.

Typically, online courses commence in May through early August.

The announcement follows the March 23 announcement — when SDBOR announced that the remainder of the spring semester will move exclusively online.
