I was extremely pleased to hear that Ron Volesky from Huron has decided to run for Governor. I have had the pleasure of working with Senator Volesky during past legislative sessions in Pierre and believe that his legislative experience and legal background would be a wonderful asset for the chief executive of South Dakota. Ron has been a champion for children?s issues and for education. His leadership as governor would strengthen our state by ensuring that future generations of South Dakotans will have the best education and gainful economic opportunities available to them. South Dakota has lagged behind in so many areas that it is time for a change. Ron Volesky has demonstrated his ability lead and to be elected though his years of service in the legislature and would use his experience to improve conditions for all South Dakotans. Open government is important to Ron and being inclusive is a necessity for our state. The status quo, which embraces policies such as the gag order, impedes open government for and by the people. Ron Volesky would change the operation of state government and restore the people?s confidence in the political system.
