Swimming team downed by UNO

The South Dakota State University women’s swimming and diving team sank to 0-2 Friday night in Omaha, falling to the UNO, 168-82.

Junior Camren Hillewaert came out strong for the Jacks, claiming three first place finishes. Hillewaert won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:11.42. She also dominated the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:30.69 and the 400 individual medley in 5:00.96.

“The meet was really laid back since our season is just getting started,” Hillewaert said. “There are a lot of things we need to work on and we all have room for improvement.”

Another SDSU victory came from freshman Alyssa Scherer, of Sioux Falls, in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:31.69. She also finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:08.44).

Elizabeth Howard, a freshman from Spearfish, claimed the 100 butterfly race in a time of 1:18.22. And the Jackrabbit 200 freestyle relay team
