SDSU’s club hockey team couldn’t hold their own against Minnesota State University – Mankato loosing all four games to the Mavericks this weekend.

“First period we had a bit of trouble watching MSU’s speed and talent,” said Marty Schipull, SDSU hockey coach.

On Friday, the Jacks took a beating the first half with a score of 6-1. They made a slight come back, but the final score for the night was still 3-9.

Saturday night was much the same story. MSU took control right away with the first period ending at a score of 4-0. During the second period, SDSU played catch-up and ended up out shooting the Mavericks 17 to 9.

They tried hard to make a come back during the third period.

“We continued our better play and pressure and won the scoring battle 2-1,” Schipull said.

But the Jacks were unsuccessful and lost 3-7.

Next week the Jacks play away at Dordt College, but return to home ice on February 18 and 19 in games against Bemidji State University at 9 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively.
