The Jacks lost the second game of their doubleheader against North Dakota State University. The Bison used a late rally to beat the Jacks, 6-3. With the victory, the Bison improved to 29-21 on the season, while the Jackrabbits fell to 11-24.

Despite Kim Westendorf and Jenna Martson both pitching very well, the Bison hitters and ace Allison Bakke, were just too much for the Jacks.

For the first two innings, both teams remained scoreless. In the top of the third inning, with two outs and two runners on, Westendorf faced Melissa Chmielewski. Chmielewski smoked the ball over the right field wall, giving the Bison a 3-0 lead. Westendorf battled back and forced the next Bison hitter to pop-up to second base, ending the inning.

The Jacks scored one run in the fourth inning, bringing them to within one. In the fifth inning, when spark plug Denise Leon came to bat, she lined a sharp ball past the Bison infield for a base hit. Amanda Fedson scored from second base on the hit. Later in the inning, Leon used her speed, taking advantage of a Bison error, to tie the score at three a piece. Leon finished two-for-four on the game.

In the top of the sixth, the Bison took advantage of a dropped ball from the Jacks’ first baseman to score the go-ahead run. But despite the error, the Jacks played well in the field, especially third baseman Fedson, who played the hot corner very well.

NDSU scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh, sealing the game. Bison starting pitcher Bekki Rasmussen pitched three and one-third innings before giving way to Bison ace Bakke, who secured the victory. With the victory, Bakke improved to 19-11 on the season. Marston picked up the loss for SDSU, falling to 7-12.
