On Sept. 21 SDSU (2-2-3,1-0-1 Summit League) could not capitalize on golden opportunities in the game, tying Weber State University 2-2 in double overtime.

The Jacks got on the board 15 minutes into the game as a Kelsey Worcester shot found the net, putting the Jackrabbits up 1-0 early in the game. Assisting on the goal was Kellyn Farrell and Tory Schiltgen.

Near the end of the first half, Weber State had an equalizer by Natalie Blaylock shot that went past SDSU’s goalkeeper Nicole Lograsso to tie it at 1-1 at the 44:50 minute mark.

Despite allowing the late goal Lograsso had a career high 15 saves in goal for the Jacks.

Four minutes into the second half, SDSU’s striker Kaitlin Justice put in a goal off a WSU defender putting the Jackrabbits at a 2-1 advantage. Schiltgen assisted Justice on the goal.

With ten seconds left in the game, WSU’s Shaylee Hyde put in the game-tying goal, sending the game to overtime.

“This is twice we’ve given up goals in the last three and a half minutes or so, and tonight with ten seconds to go,” head soccer coach Lang Wedemeyer. “That’s something we’ve got to do a little bit better on.”

With the game going into overtime, the Jacks were worried about the chances that WSU was getting. “They were getting shots off and so many were dangerous, so many from 25 to 35 yards out,” Wedermeyer said. “We’ve got to try to be more focused at the end.”

“We played very well at the beginning of both halves,” Wedermeyer continued. “We scored some good goals. We were just losing our focus a little bit in the middle part of the game and obviously at the end.”
