FACEOFF: Should the Bowl Championship Series be kept in place? NO!

Whenever the participants of a championship game are NOT decided on the field, there is a problem. College football at the FBS level is the only sport that doesn’t have a playoff system after the regular season is over. If your team has more than one loss or is not from a BCS conference, there is no chance of you winning the National Championship or even getting a chance to prove yourself on the field in order to earn a spot in the BCS title game. Every season, there are only a few dozen teams that have a legitimate chance to win a National title in college football out of the 119 FBS teams. With SDSU’s football team now at 3-4, their season would be over if they were playing at the FBS level. However, the FCS has a playoff system, and if the Jacks find a way to win their remaining five games, they will likely make the playoffs and have a chance for a National Title, unlike in the BCS.
