Hoffman breaks record at Minn. meet

Alexandra Hoffman, Erin Eagen and Brad Schoreit each set school records as the SDSU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed in Minneapolis, Minn., Feb. 5 and 6.

Hoffman led the way for the women’s teams. She placed sixth in the 200 freestyle in a school record time of 1 minute, 53.47 seconds. She now owns five individual school records.

Hoffman also took home two second-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 200 backstroke, with times of 24.26 seconds and 2:7.35.

Hoffman and Ferley went fourth and fifth in the 100 backstroke with times of 59.08 seconds and 59.36 seconds.

Senior Katie Budahl won the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.24. Budahl is now nine-for-nine in the event this season.

Budahl also placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:04.75.

Erin Eagen broke the school record in the 3-meter diving. Eagen recorded 251.05 points. Eagen and Sasha Porter took home fifth and sixth in the 1-meter diving competition with scores of 240.20 and 225.75.

On the men’s side, Brad Schoreit broke his own school record in the 3-meter diving event. Schoreit placed fourth with 263.85 points.

“The last couple meets he has battled through injuries and still kept his performances on par,” said head coach Brad Erickson. “Hopefully this week he can rest up and be healthy for our conference championships.”
