The Jackrabbit women’s golf team finished tied with Northern Colorado for 14th at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic held in Chandler, Arizona, on April 6.

The Jacks’ 36-hole score of 635 was tied for 10th best in school history, and when the final round was complete, the team had shot a 952 overall, which is the fifth best score in school history.

Sophomore Brittany Hanten (77-79-81) finished in a tie for 53rd overall with teammate Rachel Hanigan (80-78-79), as both golfers shot a 237 on the 6,108-yard course. Hanten’s 36-hole score of 156 tied her career low, which was set at the Cincinnati Spring Invitation in March.

Not far behind was Sydney Sturdevant, who shot a 238 (79-78-81) overall and finished in a tie for 59th place.

Freshman Morgan Fitts also had a strong showing for the Jacks, placing 65th after shooting a two-day total of 240 (79-85-76). Sophomore Rebecca Swords shot a 247 (80-86-81), which earned her 91st, and competing as an individual, Whitney Schrader finished 118th with an overall score of 270 (84-92-94).

“We continued to show small signs of improvement this week, but our team scores still aren’t where we think they should be,” said head coach Jared Baszler. “We were really close to having a couple of sub-310 rounds, but we made some mistakes with finishing our rounds.”
