More than 50 SDSU students participated in a Day of Service on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010. The event was held in conjunction with a year-long leadership development program called LeadState.

Students were dispatched to a variety of sites in the Brookings community. Those sites include: Habitat for Humanity and the Habitat ReStore, Brookings Youth Mentoring, United Retirement Center, the Backpack Project, Brookings Arts Council, Red Cross, Advance and the Brookings Food Pantry. Student will perform service in each location and gain a better understanding of civic engagement.

The program was held on Veterans Day to draw a connection between those who have served our country and providing service in your home community. Service on all levels is important and makes an impact.
