Festival of Cultures offers rite of spring

The South Dakota State University Multicultural Center, International Relations Council and Students’ Association will host this year’s 29th annual Festival of Cultures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 1, in the Frost Arena.

The SDSU and Brookings communities experience diverse languages, performances, activities and international cuisine at the annual event.

The main floor of Frost Arena will parade diverse cultural showcases, displays and booths, while the upper level along the track is filled with food stands and a dining area.

Admission for the general public is $2 and free for SDSU students with an I.D. The cost of food and other goods is not included in general admission.

Entertainment throughout the day will take place as follows:

10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: “Incredible India”- Indian Students’ Association

10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Nepalese Students’ Association

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Dakota District Pipe and Drum

12:00 p.m. – 12:10 p.m.: Modern Languages Poster Contest

12:10 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Dakota Prairie Cloggers

12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m.: Flandreau Indian School

1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Sons of Norway

1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Northern State University Nanta Drum Line
