Students partner with First Lutheran Church to benefit Haiti

Stuart Hughes

The SDSU Lutheran Center partnered with First Lutheran Church of Brookings to sew dresses for girls in Haiti on Saturday, Dec. 3. Students were looking for an opportunity to not only learn how to sew, but to help others as well.  Through Dozens of Dresses in a Day, founded by Carol Harwood, students were able to do just that. Thirteen students, 10 of which were beginning sewers, completed 13 dresses in four hours. Nine women throughout the community helped organize and teach at the event.

The dresses will be sent to World Wide Village out of St. Paul, Minn. From there, they will be delivered to Haiti where they will be distributed to those in need.
