Hundreds of Jackrabbit students and fans alike will be anxiously waiting to celebrate South Dakota State University’s 109th annual homecoming, which is fast approaching.

This year’s Hobo Day, the largest one-day event in the Dakotas, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13.

Although Hobo Day may only officially be Saturday, Jackrabbits have turned it into an entire week of excitement which many new and returning students look forward to.

“I’ve been excited for my first Hobo Day since I got accepted to SDSU,” said Max Bultena, freshman political science major.

Sophomore civil engineering major Andy Wolters is equally excited. “As the air cools down, the hype builds. I can feel it and we’re still over a week away,” Wolter said.

This year, a new event is scheduled to help kick off the festivities: Hobo Gear Prep Night.

The event will be hosted from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in the Market Union, certain hobo gear will be available for a lowered price to help new students kick off their wardrobe or returning students expand their collection.
