This edge-of-your-seat thriller was an exciting book cover to cover. It all begins when Robert Langdon, a Harvard symbology professor, receives a strange call in the middle of the night, summoning him to an emergency meeting at one of the top research facilities in the world.

The adventure then continues as Langdon follows clues around Vatican City and Rome to stop an estranged, age-old, underground organization, the Illuminati. This group’s mission is to destroy the ties between science and religion. The organization has threatened to kill four cardinals during conclave, the election of the new pope. Langdon, along with a young lady that works for the research facility, must follow the clues put in Vatican City and Rome centuries ago to save the cardinals’ lives.

There are several twists in the book that keep a person guessing. Every turn of the page held a new clue or secret to the path that’s easy to follow along, even if you don’t have any history in art. I feel Dan Brown did an excellent job at throwing in a history lesson, along with suspense, to make this book a must-read.

“Angels and Demons” is the prequel to the number-one New York Times best seller, the “The Da Vinci Code.” Brown said it best when he said, “Whatever your taste in art, you certainly will find the usual plethora of puzzles, arcane history, cliff-hangers, and unexpected twists.”

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thrilling book with turns and twists throughout the story line. I now look forward to reading the sequel, “The Da Vinci Code.”
