The South Dakota State Baseball Team hosted six baseball games this past week at Bob Shelden Field. This was the longest homestand the team had all year. Most of the teams’ games are on the road.

The homestand was successful for the Jacks. They went 5-1 in the six games, including taking three out of four games against the North Dakota State University Bison. The Jacks also defeated Waldorf (Iowa), 8-0, and Dakota Wesleyan, 3-2.

The homestand improved the Jacks’ home record to 9-3, and their overall record to 18-21.

The Jacks have been led at the plate this season by Tyson Fisher. Fisher has a .388 batting average, .680 slugging percentage, 57 hits, eight home runs, 38 RBIs and 11 doubles. He leads the teams in all of those categories.

Robby Apo and Kirby Morsching are tied for the team lead in wins with three. Ten different pitchers have victories for the Jacks.

The Jacks travel to Minneapolis on Wednesday, April 26, to face a rematch with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Gophers defeated the Jacks, 16-11, on April 12 in Sioux Falls.

The Jacks do not have any more home games in Brookings this season, but do have games remaining in Sioux Falls. The Division I Independent Tournament will take place in Sioux Falls from May 18 to 21. The Jacks play games in Sioux Falls the days leading up to and following the Independent Tournament.
