In first singles, Southern Utah’s Ksusha Nazarova defeated SDSU’s Nasenbeny 6-2, 6-2.

“Bryna Nasenbeny had three great matches, and although she didn’t win any of them, the level of competition was world class and very experienced,” SDSU head coach Don Hanson said. “For a freshman to face that competition and be so very competitive at number one is a real tribute to her and also points the way to a very bright future with the Jacks.”

Second singles action saw the Thunderbird’s Kirrily Burden defeat Elifson 6-0, 6-1.

The Jackrabbits could not catch a break in third singles, as Martha Kruk of SUU defeated Brannen 6-0 in the first set and had to retire the second set because of illness.

Nelson-Bulloch led SUU to victory over SDSU’s Bloomberg 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth singles match.

Fifth singles saw another Southern Utah victory as Dasha Rud defeated the Jack’s Jansen 6-3, 6-1.

In the sixth and final singles match, SUU’s Blanco beat McDougall 6-1, 6-3 to complete the singles sweep.

“It was a great trip, and we played above expectations and look forward to Macomb for the second leg of the conference,” Hanson said.

The Jacks will return to the court on April 17 through 19 for the second Summit League Cluster in Macomb, Ill., with the first match against Western Illinois, followed by Oakland, Centenary, Oral Roberts and UMKC.
