After waiting a week after most of college football had already started, the Jackrabbit offense started slow in the first half but kicked things into gear in the second half.

The Jackrabbits scored 31 points in the second half in a 44-6 victory over Georgia Southern on Sept. 12 at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium.

While the offense was struggling in the first half, the defense made the Eagles work to get their points. The Jacks forced three turnovers and sacked Lee Chapple six times in the first half.

Things started quickly for the Jackrabbit offense in the second half. Adam Monke returned the opening kick to the Jackrabbit 49, seven plays later Ryan Crawford hooked up with Mike Steffen for the score. The two would pair up again on the next Jackrabbit drive this time for a 62-yard catch and run and the rout was on.

Kyle Minett picked up where he left off last season, rushing for 128 yards on 22 carries and two scores. Crawford was nearly flawless under center, going 15-of-21 for two scores and no interceptions. Crawford was also able to make some things happen with his legs; the senior ran the ball four times for 15 yards.

Conrad Kjerstad, Corey Jeske and General Parnell all intercepted a Chapple pass.

SDSU returns to the field on Sept. 19 when they host Indiana State. Kickoff for the Beef Bowl is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium.
