Women’s golf takes second

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The South Dakota State women’s golf team finished second at the third annual Jackrabbits Fall Invitational Tuesday at the Minnehaha Country Club.

The Jackrabbits shot a third-round 314 to finish with a 934 (307-313-314) on the 5,865-yard, par-71 course. North Dakota State won the eight-team invitational (307-294-311=912).

Sophomore Islamiah Fuad (Perak, Malaysia) and Hallie Getz (Pierre) tied (for fifth after shooting 231 for the invitational. Fuad shot a team-best 76 in the final round (76-79-76) while Getz recorded a third-round 81 (75-75-81).

Sophomore Megan Mingo (Yankton) finished tied for 10th after shooting a 234 with a third-round 77. It was Mingo’s first top-10 finish of the season and second of her career.

Junior Sydney MacDonald (Calgary, Alberta) tied for 15th after firing a 241 (78-81-82) and classmate Brianna Janu (Glenwood, Minn.) tied for 18th (82-80-80=242).

Competing as individuals, freshman Natcha Srimaneerungroj (Bangkok, Thailand) tied for 10th ((79-78-77=234), recording her first collegiate top-10 finish. Senior Alli Plath (Onalaska, Wis.) shot a three-round 244 (80-78-86) and placed 23rd. Classmate Amber Houser (Northfield, Minn.) shot a 251 (83-86-82), finishing 32nd.
