South Dakota State’s only home cross country meet of the year has been canceled, SDSU Athletics announced Monday.
The release said the SDSU Classic, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, was canceled because of “safety concerns surrounding the forecasted high temperatures.”
According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 88 degrees. There is also a 30% chance of showers before 1 a.m. Saturday.
The staff is looking for a replacement meet. The Jackrabbits’ next competition is not scheduled until Oct. 17.
