Daum named Summit League Player of the Year

South Dakota State’s Mike Daum was named Summit League Player of the Year in men’s basketball Thursday.

The sophomore forward from Kimball, Nebraska finished the season averaging 24.9 points per game, which was the best in the Summit League. He also averaged 8.1 rebounds per game which was third best in the league.

Daum broke the SDSU record for most points in a single season and most points per game in a season. He was also named to the All-Summit League First Team.

SDSU will take on Denver in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.
