With the Summit League postseason in full swing, Jackrabbit soccer (12-5-1) will go into this week against the fourth-seeded Omaha Mavericks (7-10-2) Thursday, Nov. 1. If the Jacks win, they will move on to the next game against either North Dakota State or Denver.

“It’s great to be home,” head coach Brock Thompson said. “We’re obviously looking forward to Thursday and I’m just really proud of our team.”

The next home game comes after the team’s out of state win on Sunday against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (9-6-2).

“Definitely winning the first and second balls was huge for us. I think as a whole our team really ups the communication because when you have a really talented offense, team defense becomes that much more important,” junior defensive player Alexa Hepner said.

Junior goalkeeper Maggie Smither continues to dominate, racking up 76 saves this season.

It took the University of Omaha (7-10-2) six matches in this year’s campaign before it earned its first win against Green Bay.

The Jacks played Omaha once already this season on Oct. 19, a matchup in which SDSU took the victory 1-0.

The Jackrabbits play against Omaha at 3 p.m. a the Fishback Soccer Field on Thursday, Nov. 1, with the Denver vs. North Dakota State game following at 6 p.m. The winners of each game will face off in the Summit League Championships.
