The South Dakota State baseball team put on a show, compiling multiple home runs in a blowout 15-6 win against the Briar Cliff Chargers.
Luke Everson led the way, hitting two home runs.
In the second inning, Grant Sorensen kicked off the scoring hitting a ground single, scoring a run. This time, Luke Luskey continued the scoring in the third inning, as he hit a double, bringing in two runs.
Keagen Jirschele hit a flyout but scored a run in the process. They led 4-0 going into the fourth inning.
In the fourth inning, the Chargers responded as Grant Devecery had a two-run home run.
Luke Everson responded by starting the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run, sparking the Jackrabbits’ high-scoring day. Luke Luskey blasted the ball to Greyson Kay’s glove, knocking it off his hand and getting another RBI as well as a single.
Cael Walrod helped cut the Jackrabbits’ lead in half with an RBI single. Carter Taylor then gave the Jackrabbits a big score in the bottom of the fifth. Taylor hit an RBI double. Brady Brown bunted his way to second on a Charger error, bringing in two runs. Luke Wroblewski hit a ground-rule double but still managed to bring in a run, ending the inning 10-3.
Damon Schmid hit a single as the Jackrabbits got an out on second, but an error brought in a run. Luke Everson nuked the ball beyond the fence, hitting a two-run home run, putting the score at 12-4 at the end of the sixth inning.
We wouldn’t see another run until the eighth inning as Greyson Kay hit a two-RBI double. The Jackrabbits answered with four walks in a row, which led to Keagen Jirschele getting home. Brady Brown and Dayton Franke followed that up with back-to-back pop flies, each earning an RBI.
The Chargers were held scoreless in the ninth, leading to a 15-6 win for SDSU.

The Jackrabbits continue their stay at Erv Huether Field this weekend with a three-game set against Summit League foe Northern Colorado. The games are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
