Students at SDSU are hosting two community events promoting education and early detection for colorectal cancer.
The events are being organized by the Brookings Colorectal Cancer Awareness Program (BCCAP), a student-led organization, focusing on increasing community health literacy to ensure more residents understand their risks.
On April 9, the SDSU Annual Employee Benefits Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Miller Wellness Center, SSWC 0171 Conference Room. BCCAP will be available, giving out educational materials and resources regarding risk factors and prevention.
The group will also host a bowling fundraiser at The Lanes in Brookings from on April 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee, with 50% of the proceeds directly supporting BCCAP’s local education and screening efforts.
If you’re unable to attend the events, information and donation opportunities are available online at BrookingsCCAP.org.
