Ian Munsick is headlining the Dacotah Bank Center Friday, March 6 for his “The Eagle Flies Free Tour.” He’ll be joined by the opening acts Jack Worthington and Tyler Nance.
Munsick is a Wyoming-raised country singer and songwriter. He makes for a western style show with outstanding energy along with his band. His first album, “Coyote Cry,” was released in 2021. Munsick has since collaborated with top artists Cody Johnson and Lainey Wilson.
Munsick’s music blends traditional country with western storytelling, inspired by his upbringing in Wyoming. Since the release of his first album, he has gained a loyal fan base across the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions.
He won song of the year for his hits “Horses Are Faster” and “Long Haul” from the iHeartRadio Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards.
This will be his 11th stop on tour and make it his first performance at the Dacotah Bank Center. 1,500 attendees are expected for Munsick’s concert.
Brookings is excited for Munsick’s tour stop and for him to see the community.
“Seeing things Brookings has to offer allows him to kind of see the great community,” said Megan Green, event manager for the Dacotah Bank Center. “Concerts are always a great benefit for the Brookings community. It’s a chance for people in the community to see somebody new.”
Munsick said he loves to play shows in South Dakota.
“South Dakota always shows out when we play there. Some of my favorite shows have been in South Dakota.” Munsick said. He is excited to show Brookings what he and his band love to do.
According to Munsick, fans can expect to have the time of their lives.
“Every time we walk on stage, our goal is to put on one of the best shows you’ve ever seen,” Munsick said. “My band and I love what we do and it’s infectious. Prepare to get western.”
Munsick has played a big part in entertaining South Dakota. In the last year, his tours have stopped in Rapid City, Sturgis, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen. He has notably had large crowds following him within the state.
Munsick headlined the Brown County Fair on Aug. 13, 2025.
“We had him on a Wednesday, which traditionally we grow bigger to the weekend, but he actually exceeded expectations,” said Rachel Kippley, Brown Country Fair manager.
Dacotah Bank Center doors are scheduled to open around 6 p.m., with the opening acts starting at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $51 to $89. They are still available to purchase.
“I’ve never been to Brookings, but I have no doubt it will be just as great as Sioux Falls, Deadwood, Sturgis, and all the other amazing shows we’ve played across the state,” Munsick said.
His next show is in Mankato, Minn. on March 7. The “The Eagle Flies Free Tour” is set to run until mid-September.
