A head-on collision 2 miles east of Volga killed an Arlington man and left a Brookings man seriously injured Friday night.
The crash occurred when a 20-year-old man driving a 2013 Ford Edge traveled east in the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 14, striking a 2005 Chevrolet Impala head-on, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
The collision was reported at 7:17 p.m.
The driver of the Impala, a man from Arlington, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Brookings man was taken to Brookings Health System with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the department said in a news release.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The men’s names have not been released pending notification of family members.
