The university has lowered the speed limit to 25 mph at the Jackrabbit Avenue roundabout, effective immediately, citing the need to improve safety in the busy area.
The new speed limit affects an 800-foot stretch of University Boulevard east of the roundabout, a section of road that runs past the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
The change aligns the speed limit with surrounding roads and reflects safety practices for roundabouts and high-traffic pedestrian areas, according to a campus-wide notice from Associate Vice President Barry Mielke.
New street signs are being installed and will be temporarily flagged for increased visibility, the notice said.
