The Jackrabbit club hockey team is ranked for the first time since the club’s inception. The squad is No. 19 in the ACHA’s most recent rankings and is currently 14-2 on the year. Great production on both offensive and defensive ends has propelled the Jacks up the board, with the team scoring 94 goals and letting up 26.
Maxwell Kjelden, Owen Schneider and Zach Struck are currently leading the team in points, tallying 26, 25 and 21 on the year. The trio has combined for 39 goals on the year.
Goalie Addison Ronning has a .933 save percentage on the year alongside a 1.71 goals allowed average.
“We’ve always known that we’ve had the right guys. I feel like this year it’s finally starting to click together,” said Jacks goaltender Lance Nelson.
Last weekend saw the Jacks sweep the Augustana Vikings in a 4-2 and 6-0 win.
The teams played previously this season, with the Jacks winning both games including an overtime, comeback win.
They will look to keep up the momentum next Friday and Saturday as they host Waldorf at the Larson Ice Center. The series will make up two of the team’s 10 remaining games in the season.
“I think the best part about it is that we still have a lot left in the tank I think, I think we haven’t even seen close to the best of this roster,” Nelson said.
