South Dakota State and Drake will face off in the third ever college football at Target Field in Minneapolis, home of the Minnesota Twins, Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023.

1st Quarter

12:43 – Touchdown Bulldogs. The Jackrabbits allow two big pass plays from the Drake offense and find themselves down early in the 1st quarter. SDSU – 0, Drake – 7

10:37 – The Jacks answer right back driving 75 yards in only four plays to tie it back up. SDSU – 7, Drake – 7

6: 52 – The Jackrabbits get a stop on a Drake 3rd & 15. They start their drive at the Bulldog 36 after a 42 yard punt return from Tucker Large. SDSU – 7, Drake – 7

4:12 –  SDSU takes the lead driving 36 yards on 7 plays. Kevin Brenner hauls in the 3 yard pass from Gronowski for his first career reception. SDSU – 14, Drake – 7

2:12 – The Jacks get hit with two penalties on the 33 yard punt return from Tucker Large that backs them up to their own 18 yard line.

00:00 – The Jacks go 3 and out for the first time today giving it to the Bulldogs who allow the time to run out. SDSU – 14, Drake – 7

2nd Quarter

13:20 Drake finishes the drive with a punt, the Jacks will start with the ball on their own 36.

10:28 – Touchdown South Dakota State. Gronowski lofts it to Zach Heins in the left corner of the endzone. After a review, the play stands. SDSU – 21, Drake – 7

5:13 – The Jacks set up on offense at the Drake 18 after a 61 yard punt return from Tucker Large. SDSU punches in the score with an Amar Johnson 1-yard rush. SDSU – 28, Drake – 7

2:08 SDSU drives 69 yards in 4 plays as Grownoski find Griffin Wilde in the corner of the endzone for an 18-yard TD reception. The true freshman now has three touchdowns in three career games. SDSU – 35, Drake – 7

00:00 – A Bulldog punt left SDSU with 56 seconds left in the half. Grownowski throws a pass to the right side of the field and is intercepted by Tyler Radocha and Drake’s offense kneels the rest of the time out.  SDSU – 35, Drake – 7

3rd Quarter

12:51 – Amar Johnson sets up the Jackrabbit offense on the Drake 45-yard line after a 51-yard return. SDSU takes 4 plays and Mark Gronowski punches it in for the 5 yard score. SDSU – 42, Drake – 7

8:34 – The Jacks tack on another one driving 55 yards. Gronowski gets it out in the flat for Jaxon Yanke who stretches it in from 1 yard out. SDSU – 49, Drake – 7

4:47 – The SDSU backups come in and drive 45 yards on 5 playes to extend the lead off of the 21-yard touchdown rush from Angel Johnson. SDSU – 56, Drake – 7

4th Quarter

13:30 – Shane Dunning’s field goal attempt for Drake is no good. SDSU – 56, Drake – 7

13:18 – On the very next play, Chase mason breaks a huge run for 69 yards.  SDSU – 63, Drake – 7

8:18 – Angel Johnson breaks open a big run. 66 yards to the endzone. SDSU – 70, Drake – 7

00:00 – SDSU wins big over Drake in Minneapolis. SDSY – 70, Drake – 7
