In a Brookings City Council meeting April 8, Ordinance 20-005 was unanimously voted to extend through Wednesday, May 6.

The ordinance prohibits on-site food and beverage consumption at “all restaurants, bars, breweries, clubs, cafes and other similar places of public accommodation offering food and beverages for on-site consumption.”

Ordinance 20-005 also bans entertainment venues such as bowling alleys, public pools, arcades, bingo halls, skating rinks and “other similar recreational or entertainment facilities.”

The extension follows a March 23 vote, when the city council approved the ordinance through April 8.

The council also voted to make an amendment to the ordinance to include and address loitering in groups of 10 people or more.
