Jacks look to extend win streak against Iowa State

Jordon Shoenrock, Sports Reporter

Riding the high of a five dual win streak, the South Dakota State wrestling team welcomes 13th-ranked Iowa State into Frost Arena at 7 p.m. Friday night.

On top of the win streak, the Jackrabbits (6-3, 3-0) will look to stay perfect in Big 12 against the Cyclones (4-3, 1-0), who have ranked wrestlers at nine of 10 weights.

Here’s a look at the projected lineups:

*SDSU wrestlers listed first, rankings from FloWrestling

125 | Danny Vega vs No. 10 Alex Mackall

133 | Zach Price v. No. 17 Todd Small

Match note: Small won a 12-6 decision earlier this season.

141 | Clay Carlson v. No. 7 Ian Parker

149 | No. 10 Henry Pohlmeyer v. Ryan Leisure or No. 7 Jarrett Degen

Match note: Degen has not been in the starting line up since mid-December due to injury.

157 | Colten Carlson v. No. 3 David Carr

165 | Tanner Cook v. Chase Straw

174 | Cade King v. No. 11 Samuel Colbray

Match note: Colbray was the 184-pounder to start the season but recently dropped to 174.

184 | No. 17 Zach Carlson vs No. 15 Marcus Coleman

Match note: Coleman was the 174-pounder but went up to 184 when Colbray dropped down.

Additional note regarding the midseason switch: According to a Jan. 16 report from Cody Goodwin of the Des Moines Register, the decision was made for two primary reasons: Coleman was believed to be battling mono as a result of holding the lower weight and ISU wrestling coach Kevin Dresser believes Colbray can compete for a national title at his new weight.

197 | No. 20 Tanner Sloan vs No. 21 Joel Shapiro

285 | Blake Wolters vs No. 12 Gannon Gremmel

Match note: Wolters dropped a 5-3 decision last year to Gremmel.
