Nick’s Hamburger’s slogan is “Buy ‘em By the Bag,” but on Sept. 8, you might as well bring ‘em in by the barrel.

On that day, Nick’s will be hosting their Nick’s Hamburger eating contest. The mass consumption of burgers will be held from 4 to about 6 p.m. at Nick’s Hamburger’s Park at 427 Main Ave.

Up to 20 contestants are needed and can sign up at Nick’s by Sept. 1. The cost to enter is $15.

The winner will receive $25 cash, an embroidered Nick’s Hamburgers hooded sweatshirt and more.

The event is being held in conjunction with the “Back-to-School Family Fun Fest,” coordinated with Downtown Brookings, Inc. It will feature a pizza taste-testing competition, special sales from the downtown merchants, unique vendors, and church and student organizations.
