South Dakota State riders took a pair of points in reining, but got blanked in horsemanship and took one point in both hunt seat events to fall to No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State by a 16-4 score on Oct. 13 at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.
“The reiners rode strong once again against a very talented team,” head coach Megan Rossiter said. “Laura Dunlavy had another outstanding ride, and freshman Jessie Miller laid down an aggressive ride as well. We still have work to do, but we were proud of the team for another strong showing against a successful and seasoned team.”
Dunlavy and Miller scored the points for the Jacks in reining, Dunlavy scored a 72 riding AR to improve to 2-0 on the season, while Miller improved to 1-1 in reining with a 71 on Boo.
Lauren Kerr and Megan Schiffman led the Jackrabbit hunt seat team, with Kerr posting a score of 90 riding Havana in equitation on the flat to earn a point and improve to 2-0 on the season. Schiffman carded a 92 on Jackson, but her record still falls to 0-2, as OSU’s Samantha Harrison posted a 94 on the same horse.
Jenna Boscardin made her season debut on Saturday, and scored the Jackrabbits lone point over fences with an 80.5 riding Elliot.
