SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Brock Jensen threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, Sam Ojuri added two rushing scores, and North Dakota State bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 54-0 dismantling of South Dakota on Saturday night.

Jensen threw for 195 yards, including a 32-yard score to Nate Moody and a 2-yarder to Andrew Bonnet, and added touchdown runs of 10 and 2 yards for the Bison (6-1, 3-1 Missouri Valley), whose 17-14 loss last week to Missouri State snapped a 10-game winning streak dating to last season. Ojuri scored on runs of 11 and 4 yards and finished with 76 yards rushing.

Backup Carson Wentz added a 19-yard touchdown pass to Taylor Nelson. The Bison defense was just as dominant, holding the Coyotes (1-6, 0-4) to 76 yards of total offense and four first downs, and Zach Colvin capped the scoring with a 12-yard interception return.

 

Indiana State 23, Western Illinois 7

MACOMB, Ill. — Each side scored from recovering fumbles in the end zone, but it was Indiana State that would win the game, beating Western Illinois 23-7 on Saturday night.

In the first half, the Sycamores got touchdowns from a 14-yard run by Richie Dyer and a 46-yard run by Shakir Bell. Defensive back Mark Sewall recovered the fumble in the end zone, and Tanner Fritschle added the extra point in the fourth quarter.

Mike Perish was 12 of 18 for 99 yards for Indiana State (6-2, 4-1 Missouri Valley).

Western Illinois (3-4, 1-3 Missouri Valley) was scoreless in the first half.

 

Southern Illinois 38, Youngstown St. 21

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Southern Illinois took advantage of five Youngstown State turnovers to capture a comeback 38-21 victory on Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference game.

Youngstown State (4-3, 1-3) led 21-10 late in the second quarter before the turnovers struck. Southern Illinois (5-3, 4-1) finished the game with 28 unanswered points to extend its winning streak to three games.

The Salukis’ final two touchdowns came on a fumble recovered in the end zone by Tyler Williamson and a 100-yard interception return by Anthony Thompson on an errant pass by Kurt Hess.

Courtney Richmond recovered a blocked punt for a score, the third straight game the Salukis blocked a punt for a touchdown.

Southern Illinois’ Kory Faulkner passed for two touchdowns.

 

Missouri St. 24, Illinois St. 17

NORMAL, Ill. — Kierra Harris and Ashton Glaser each ran for a touchdown, and the Missouri State defense recorded two safeties Saturday to shock Illinois State 24-17.

After Harris’ 1-yard score, Nate Davis sacked Matt Brown, whose fumble bounced out of the ISU end zone to give the Bears (2-6, 2-3 Missouri Valley) a 9-0 lead. But Brown recovered to hit Tyrone Walker for TDs of 4 and 15 yards, and the Redbirds (6-2, 3-2) took a 14-9 lead into the fourth.

Austin Witmer’s 20-yard field goal and Glaser’s 2-yard run put Missouri State up 19-14. The Bears added two more points when Howard Scarborough tackled Darrelynn Dunn in the end zone, and another Witmer field goal made it 24-14.
