ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Macalester College students are protesting the St. Paul school’s relationship with Wells Fargo.

Student organizer Rebecca Hornstein says 15 students initially entered Macalester President Brian Rosenberg’s office at 10 a.m. Tuesday. By evening, the number grew to 35 students, who had moved out into a common area of the administration building.

Hornstein tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press the protesters want Macalester to move its business from Wells Fargo into a community bank.

Macalester partners with Wells Fargo for its purchasing card program to buy goods and services.

A college official sent a letter to the protesters saying Macalester will not alter the program.

The student group, “Kick Wells Fargo Off Campus,” is associated with Occupy Homes MN, a group fighting foreclosures by Wells Fargo and other large banks.
