Gunman robs Pizza Hut flees scene with cash

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Pizza Hut was robbed at gunpoint late Sunday evening, according to Brookings police.

Officers responded to a call about 11:21 p.m. that the Brookings restaurant, which is located at 418 Sixth St., had just been robbed.

According to witnesses, a man entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money. An employee turned over an undetermined amount of cash, and the robber fled on foot, heading east.

The robber was described as about 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, and he was wearing gray, fleece-type sweatpants and a gray, hooded sweatshirt.

According to the description taken by police, the robber was wearing goggles and some type of black covering which hid the rest of his face.
