On Wednesday, South Dakota State announced that John Stiegelmeier had agreed to and signed a five-year extension.

In his 22-year coaching tenure, Stiegelmeier has compiled a 158-99 record for a .614 winning percentage.
The Jackrabbits have been led by Stiegelmeier to seven straight Football Championship Subdivision Playoff appearances.
“I want to thank President Barry Dunn and Justin Sell for their belief and faith in me,” Stiegelmeier told www.gojacks.com. “I have been blessed beyond measure to serve as the head football coach at South Dakota State University. Laurie and I are looking forward to the next five years and the many accomplishments that lie ahead.”
