Cross country teams take first in the 8k and second in the 6k at SDSU Classic in Brookings
Jacks place 1st and 2nd in SDSU Classic that took place at the Edgebrook Golf Course last Friday.
In his first race back in Brookings, Carson Noecker recorded a 24:11.28 in the 8k which placed him in first in the race and rewarded him the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week.
Adding to his impressive performance, the sophomore’s time is now the fastest time ever at Edgebrook, breaking the 24:17.2, a record Noecker set last season.
Ben Anteau took fourth in the 8k with a time of 24:54.44, Jackson Dutcher finished in fifth at 24:56.78 and Will Lohr who placed sixth with a time of 25:00.74.
In seventh, Cody Larson rounded out the Jacks in the top-ten with a time of 25:03.47.
The first Jackrabbit to cross the plain in the 6k was Meghan ford who took fourth at 21:22.19. Grace Waage took 11th at 21:57.04, Kayla Christopherson and Jenna Soine finished back-to-back in 12th and 13th with times of 21:58.98 and 21:59.28 respectively.
In 15th was Mya Kizer rounding out the scoring for the Jacks with a time of 22:05.93.
Dakota Marker set for prime time
This year’s Dakota Marker matchup has been narrowed down to two times and two networks.
The annual game between South Dakota State and North Dakota State will take place next Saturday at either 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU or 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Jacks are ranked No. 1 in the FCS polls with NDSU right behind at No. 2.
It was announced this summer that the rivalry, which has become one of the most anticipated games in the FCS each season, and the annual Interstate Series game against USD were slated to be nationally televised on the ESPN family of networks.
According to a release from SDSU Athletics the Oct. 26 bout against the Coyotes is set to be announced early next week.
The Jackrabbits are set to host Youngstown State for their Hobo Day celebration this Saturday at 2 p.m. while the Bison are traveling to Southern Illinois.
