A free-to-attend SDSU Football watch party will happen this Saturday, Oct. 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown Brookings. The watch party will stream the SDSU Jackrabbits versus the UNI Panthers.
The event will occur outside Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill and Skinner’s Pub and close off Main Avenue from 3rd Street to 4th Street for event goers.
The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event and will feature food and drink options from Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill and Skinner’s Pub.
There will be yard games available to take part in during pregame activities and it is encouraged to bring your own chair for personal seating.
Event coordinator Casey Stickland is excited to bring this watch party to the Brookings community.
“We love providing a space where people can gather, show off their Jackrabbit spirit and connect with each other,” said Stickland. “It’s also a great opportunity for SDSU students to step off-campus and experience the energy and charm of downtown Brookings.”
The event comes from a prior cancellation due to bad weather the year before, yet the Chamber wanted to make it happen this year.
“We found that there was interest in doing an event in town during away games, and that is how this event was born,” Stickland said. “It’s a great way to show SDSU how much we value their presence and top-level athletics here in Brookings.”
The event will also host a bags tournament as another way to engage community members during the event.
There are up to 32 two-person slots for people to sign up, and the participation cost is $20. The tournament winners will receive half the registration fees and some donated prizes from local Brookings businesses.
The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce is thankful for the various event sponsors and they hope to have a great turnout on Saturday.
