The South Dakota State baseball team played the Fort Wayne Mastodons in a three game series in Joplin, Missouri, over the weekend. The Jacks defeated the Mastodons in all three games 10-0, 7-2 and 13-9.
Outfielder Phil Velez led the Jacks in two of the three games, getting six hits in seven plate appearances. He also had seven runs batted in. Velez hit a walk-off grand slam in the third game. This was his second grand slam of the season.
