Farber honored at National Student Advertising Competition

Alexandra Farber received the National Best Presenter Award at the National Student Advertising Competition held earlier this month in Florida.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – June 13, 2019 – The 2019 National Student Advertising Competition finals competition in Hollywood, Florida, June 6-7 was a memorable experience for South Dakota State University.

While the team presentation did not earn a top three placement in the eight-university competition, Alexandra Farber, a Britton native and May 2019 graduate, received the National Best Presenter Award. The award is the only honor presented to an individual.

“I feel truly honored to be recognized as the top presenter in the nation,” said Farber, who received a $500 prize. “Every presenter in the competition put in so much time and effort to make sure that their pitch went smoothly. It was an honor to advance this far in the competition, let alone win best presenter. I am so grateful for the opportunity and the doors it could open for my professional career.”

Farber also won the top presenter award at the District 8 competition where South Dakota State qualified for the national finals.

The team experience was highlighted by receiving critiques from officials from Wienerschnitzel, the competition’s sponsor for which the teams created a marketing plan and pitched their ideas, and the opportunity to network with national agencies in attendance. The team’s pitch used the slogan, “Hot Dogs Made More,” and focused on quality ingredients, toppings and celebrations.

In Farber’s eyes, it was a great way to cap the competition experience.

“Regardless of our placement in the finals, we are so proud of what we brought to the table and the pitch we crafted,” she said. “This competition made us all so excited to join this amazing industry. This was a highlight of my undergraduate experience and one I will never forget.”
