The South Dakota State University women’s soccer team emerged undefeated from a week of home play at Bob Shelden Field.

Carrying a 3-1 record after a dissapointing loss to Winona State, the Jacks exploded back onto the winning track with an 8-0 victory over the University of Sioux Falls Sept. 11.

Senior Jennifer Briggs contributed a hat trick toward the non-conference victory with assistance from Norwegian recruit Anne Baltzersen and sophomore Jennifer Hasis.

Baltzersen added two goals of her own in the second half.

Freshman Kayla Larson, sophomore Alissa Bernth and senior Janine Fagan also tallied a point each in the second half.

USF only fired off one shot at defense, stopped by Brittany Frazier in her third shutout of the season.

The Jackrabbits jumped back into North Central Conference action Sept. 14 with a 6-0 win over Minnesota State/Moorhead.

Janine Fagan jump-started scoring 10 minutes into the first half.

Fagan tallied another point 17 minutes later.

The score remained 2-0 until the Jacks went on a quadruple-goal rampage in the last 12 minutes of play.

Senior Jennifer Briggs nailed the first two of four goals in just over two minutes.

Michelle Rahe and Melissa Thorbjornsen rounded out Jackrabbit scoring as the final minutes ticked off the clock.

The team also set a school record for assists with nine.

Goalkeeper Brittany Frazier made three saves against the Dragons for her second shutout of the week.

SDSU ended homeplay with another non-conference win over Emporia State Sept. 15.

Jennifer Briggs once again proved herself an asset and scored the fastest goal in Jacks history 45 seconds in.

Emporia State’s Vanessa Lowry tied the game up just before halftime.

The teams remained deadlocked until the final minutes of the game when Briggs scored her eighth goal of the season off a corner kick assist by freshman Amy Goodrich.

Frazier had 11 total saves for the game.

SDSU soccer sees action next on Sept. 21-22 at the Nebraska-Omaha Invitational.

Competition includes games with Southwest Baptist Saturday and Minnesota-Duluth Sunday, both at noon.
