The SDSU Athletic Department and Department of Residential Life are teaming up in an attempt to make history at the Oct. 26 volleyball game.

The groups have combined their forces to sponsor one of this season’s Jacks Fanaddicts events, in the hopes of breaking the home attendance record for an SDSU volleyball game.

In order to accomplish this feat, they will have to draw more than 1,038 spectators to Frost Arena for the 7:30 p.m. game.

Dana Northrup, Pierson Hall director and advisor for the Resident Assistant Council, the organization within Residential Life spearheading the effort, said the event will provide an excellent opportunity for residents on the SDSU campus to get out and enjoy one of the many events the campus has to offer.

He added that the residence hall floor with the most people in attendance will earn a pizza party paid for by the Fanaddicts.

Residents can check in at tables in the arena, and must arrive by 7:15 to be counted for the contest.

Northrup said the co-sponsorship from the Residential Life members came at the request of Matt James, who is in charge of marketing and promotion for the athletic department.

“We thought it was an excellent opportunity to get our name out there,” Northrup said of the RA Council’s involvement.
